A Normal Life by Ruben Agosto (ASCAP) Verse 1 Monday, get out of bed, And so the week begins, Sunrise and I am dead, But I’ve got to get in, Evening, the day is gone, I can’t wait to get home. She’ll be there with a smile and tea. One day into the next, You’d think that I’m in pain, The weeks turn into years, Yet I’d do it all again. Chorus Hanging out with the boys and, Talking music all night long. I jam with the band on a Tuesday, To practice songs for Saturday, By Friday’s gig the sound is tight, I pray at church on Sunday, And think where I’ll be someday, It’s just your average normal life. Verse 2 TV, don’t have the time, Got email and the kin, Night time, I’ve got to rhyme, To write this song again, Midnight, and I am dead, I can’t wait to turn in. She’ll be there with a smile to please. Freedom, it has a price, I pay it every day, The cost can bring you tears, Yet I’d do it all again.

The Eyes Have It by Ruben Agosto (ASCAP) Verse 1 Please, don’t turn away, You stopped me in my tracks, Your glance it says a thousand things, I want to hear them back. Did you say that I was handsome? Or say that I was flat? Did you say that you were lonely? The eyes can tell all that. Verse 2 Please, just stay a while, I need a little time, To contemplate the beauty and, The power of those eyes. You got that angel smile, You got the hair that flows, You got a walk and sense of style, But one thing that I know is, Chorus The eyes have it, The eyes have it, It’s my habit, The eyes have it. Verse 3 Thank you for the gaze, It’s just so nice to find, A look so deep to stop a man, And melt his weary mind. You said that I was handsome, You liked the clothes I wore, And now that you aren’t lonely, I want you to know more. Verse 4 They say the eyes are somehow, A window to the soul, To stare into your knowing gaze, And find you is my goal. It’s not your angel smile, It’s not your flowing hair, It’s not your walk or sense of style, Believe me and I swear. Bridge For some it’s in the wiggle, For others it’s the bop, And even though I like those moves, The eyes are at the top. I like your angel smile, I like your hair above, I like the way you walk and sway, But absolutely love those eyes. Chant Here she comes, Look at those eyes, You better believe, That's the prize.

Amparo by Ruben Agosto (ASCAP) Verse 1 Stepped on out of your border, Walked right into my life, Thinking of a better future, Not what’s wrong or right. I see your face in the morning, Think of you every night, Though your words are from back home, Can you understand my heart? Chorus Every time I see you, You smile and turn away, Because our words are foreign, This I learned to say: Amparo, Te quiero en mi vida, Amparo, Amparo, You quiero que me digas, Amparo, Que si! Verse 2 Started out at the worksite, I hadn’t a clue, Not sure how it really happened, But I fell in love with you. Your eyes are like the sunshine, Your face like an angel’s glow, A touch a heavenly warm embrace, I guess that’s how I know.

The Power of Love by Ruben Agosto (ASCAP) Verse 1 Why do I, Need another romance, When I promised to not repeat the dance? Why should I, Do it over again, Feeling sorry and taking all the blame? Dining out for one, Cocktails just for fun, The price of being free, For independent me. Verse 2 So how did I, Slip and let down my guard, Let your sorry one-liner touch my heart? And why did I, Leave an opening then, Just enough to reach out and let you in? I'm not looking for, A new love anymore, But since you have arrived, My mind is open wide. Chorus I can't fight the power of love, Even when it hurts me because, When the rain comes down from above, You can make the sunshine through. Verse 3 How did you, Know I needed you so, When it didn't take me much to let you go? How do we, Start another romance, When the last one we let slip through our hands? I'm not waiting for, The answers any more, Don't need to know why, I'm willing to just try, So stay with me tonight.

Crazy Music 04:03
Crazy Music by David Morales (ASCAP) Chorus We all need some crazy music, The kind won’t let you down, We all need some crazy music, The kind that spins you round and round. Verse 1 They listen in the East, They listen in the West, They shake their bodies round and round, Don’t care what no one says. You just have to look around, And find the special groove, Listen for the crazy sound, To get you in the mood. Verse 2 Walkin’ down the pier one day, Didn’t know what to do, Saw the people gather round, And start to raise the roof. You just have to look around, And find the special groove, Listen for the crazy sound, To get you in the mood. (Chorus) Verse 3 Walkin’ down the street one day, Searhin’ for a brew, After working all night long, Nothing else to do. Out of nowhere came a sound, Put me in the mood, Out of nowhere came a sound, Soothing like the moon. (Chorus) We all need some crazy music We all need some crazy music

Mystery 03:47
Mystery by Ruben Agosto (ASCAP) Verse 1 It’s the end of the day, And while you’re away, I’m wondering, Where you’ve been, And where you’re going. I’m just not seeing, Where on Earth you’re being, Just know, I haven’t seen you, For a while. Chorus Yes I realize, You’ve got to have some freedom, But something’s not quite right. You know my history, And I’m not a jealous man, But you’re a mystery Verse 2 Who’s calling you, In the middle of the night? I don’t know if you’ll ever, If you’ll ever treat me right. Another, “who done it?” Racing through my head, Lying in bed, I just can’t sleep. (Chorus) Verse 3 Deep down inside, I’m going out of my mind, Trying so hard, I don’t want to lose you. My heart is pounding, So scared of what I’ll find, Am I chasing something real? I really don’t want to lose you! Last Chorus Yes I realize, You got to have some freedom, But something’s just not quite right. See, you know my history, And, I’m not a jealous man, But you’re My mystery.

I Can’t break free, No sign of me, I’ve lost myself it’s a tragedy. Truth 04:29
Truth by Ruben Agosto and Hector Gonzales (ASCAP) Chorus Didn’t know what I was searching for, Then I found truth it opened up the door, Know I know that life has so much more to give. Verse 1 I was searching, searching for something, Something was missing inside you see, I felt restless, had no direction, Couldn’t even find a little piece of me. (Chorus) Verse 2 I was empty and oh so lonely, Emptiness filled where I couldn’t see, I was searching in all directions, Then truth appeared and laid a path for me. Bridge First it may seem heavy, When you are not ready, But start upon the road, And lighten up your load. When you’re feeling lonely, Know you’re not the only one, Searching deep down inside, Bringing truth into the light!

about

So what should a cover band sound like when it doesn’t do covers? It reaches deep inside and plays from its core. For PowerPlay FYI, the result is a mix of Jazz, Funk, Latin, Soul, World and Pop influences. It’s a unique genre-crossing collection of songs.

Though this CD covers lots of musical ground, brass and vocals are the beacons lighting the way from above while pulsating rhythms propel us forward. If that sounds overly ambitious, for PowerPlay FYI, it’s normal.
